The interior rear deck of the car is clear of everything. I ended the day with a stripped and empty tin can on wheels. |
The 280z Project is up on jack stands and under cover. We will change the front and rear brakes, and do body work before she comes back down. |
We need to attach the "tow tabs" to the front frame of the 280z so we can connect the tow hitch and pull the car with our truck. Time to break out the welder! |
We pull the 280 drive shaft and placed it next to a 240 drive shaft and found the 240 shaft to be one inch shorter. The doors were removed to complete the body work on them. |
The "over-the-wall" pit crew and I dropped the stock exhaust pipe and muffler. We plan to take the exhaust from the header, to a muffler and right out the side before the back tire. |
We attached tow bar with the "tow tabs" onto the front frame of the 280z. We removed the stock tow loops and welded the tow bar too the stock loops, then bolted the stock loops back in place! |
We painted the tow bar black so it would not rust. Connected the A-frame tow bar to check the clearance, and everything looks great! |
The next thing to work on is the brakes. Every part of the brake system will be taken apart for inspection to determine if it needs to be replaced or not. |
Brakes, I replaced the complete front brakes right down to the calipers, pads, and both hard and flexible brake lines. |
The rear brakes gave me hell. Someone replaced the right rear side with 240Z brakes. I replaced the 280Z parts on the left rear, and 240Z parts on the right rear. Now the master brake cylinder is not working and needs to be replaced. |
